Board of Directors
The Supervisory Board sets the strategic direction of Freeport East and approves Freeport East Ltd’s strategic decisions, including annual budget, business plan and longer-term strategy.
It also retains overall responsibility for risk and performance. Our Supervisory Board membership includes a nominated Director from each of the founding members, an independent Chair, and the CEO of Freeport East Ltd.
The Members Agreement sets out the arrangements and membership of the Supervisory Board and how Board meetings should be managed.
We publish a Register of Interests for each Supervisory Board member. Declarations of interests are also recorded in the minutes of the Supervisory Board meetings and are managed in accordance with our Standards of Conduct Policy to which all employees and Board members adhere.

Founding Members
We have 10 founding members, namely the Port of Felixstowe, Gateway 14, Harwich International Port, University of Essex, New Anglia LEP, Essex County Council, Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council, Tendring District Council, and Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils.
Freeport East Ltd does not own assets such as land, buildings or port infrastructure but we work in partnership with landowners, developers, port operators to deliver on the aspirations of Freeport East.
East Suffolk Council acts as the Accountable Body for Freeport East Ltd.
Our Articles of Association, which were adopted on incorporation of the company on 6th December 2022, explain our purpose as well as our duties and responsibilities.
