Freeport East Accelerates Clean Energy Growth Through Partnership with Insight Energy

Insight Energy Renewables is a Suffolk-based certified B Corp dedicated to making the transition to clean energy simple and accessible for households and businesses alike. Combining technical expertise with a strong commitment to sustainability, the company delivers end-to-end support – from consultancy and design through to installation – across a wide range of energy transition infrastructure projects, supported by Freeport East.

After learning about Freeport East through the Suffolk Small Business Support Network in 2024, Insight Energy Renewables applied for and secured funding from the Freeport East Clean Growth Fund. This support accelerated the development of its innovative electric vehicle chargepoint payment system, Your Insight Energy. The project makes it easier for businesses to transition to clean energy by helping them electrify their fleets and optimise on-site energy use.

The Clean Growth Fund helped bring our idea for the Your Insight Energy platform to life, a tool that’s now making it easier for local businesses to switch to electric and maximise the benefits of clean energy.

Over the past year, with funding support from Freeport East, the Your Insight Energy project has achieved significant results:

• Onboarded over 350 electric vehicle drivers
• Covered 300+ EV connectors
• Processed more than 18,000 charging transactions for local drivers
• Delivered 425 MWh of clean electricity

These achievements demonstrate the measurable impact of Insight Energy’s work in driving sustainable action across industry.

Demand for the project continues to rise, with figures increasing week by week. There is a clear appetite within industry for renewable energy and a growing need for support in transitioning away from traditional fossil fuels. Insight Energy has already made significant progress in helping local businesses reduce their carbon footprints and now plans to build on this success through a new initiative – The Insight Hub.

The Insight Hub focuses on active engagement with business communities, inviting them to spend a morning exploring the workplace benefits of renewable energy and learning how sustainable solutions can add value to their operations. Education is central to Insight Energy’s core values; committed to ongoing learning within the sustainability sector, the company aims to equip local businesses with the knowledge and confidence to adopt green energy solutions.

What’s most exciting is the growing enthusiasm from local businesses to take positive action on sustainability. Through our new Insight Hub, we’re bringing people together to learn, share ideas and see how green energy can really benefit their operations.

With support from Freeport East, Insight Energy has also been able to expand its team, including onboarding an apprentice who is being trained to achieve a renewable electricity qualification. This educational element contributes to developing the next generation of clean energy professionals, aligning closely with the goals of the Freeport East Clean Growth Fund.

As a recently established organisation operating with limited working capital, support from Freeport East has been instrumental in accelerating the project’s growth and enabling investment in team development. Looking ahead, Insight Energy aims to continue building momentum and to be recognised as a leading specialist in the transition to renewable energy.
